Indie platformer Broforce has joined forces with Sylvester Stallone’s upcoming Expendables 3 to produce a demo/movie tie-in called the Expendabros. The title features the likeness of several characters from the coming movie, and has them travel across Eastern Europe to take down arms dealer Conrad Stonebanks. It’s free until the end of the year, after which the fate of the game is unknown.
Expendabros features ten missions that can be played with full four player local co-op. Oddly enough, both online multiplayer and competitive modes have been left out of this spin-off. Each of the seven Expendable inspired Bros has a unique weapon and special attack, a feature lifted from the original Broforce; which incidentally is inspired by the kind of action movies that made the stars of the Expendables household names.
Also like the movies, Broforce includes large amounts of destructible terrain and excessive firepower. There is also a large amount of freedom that needs to be delivered to each of the stages. Gamers who grew up on titles like Contra and Metal Slug will be instantly familiar with how this works.
Broforce and Expendabros are both available through the Steam client.
