Toshiba recently announced its latest Satellite L Series laptops and also the Satellite P50 Series as well. The Satellite L Series include the 14” Satellite L40 and the 15.6” Satellite L50. On the other hand, the P50 Series bear two high-end model which are the Satellite P50 and the Ultra HD version, the P50t.
The Satellite L Series laptops aims to provide versatility in performance without compromising aesthetic designs. Toshiba worked with Skullcandy to help produced these laptops with a more robust sound capabilities. The laptops offers options for up to 4th generation Intel Core i7 processors, while integrated Intel HD graphics are found in both screen sizes alongside the AMD Radeon R7 graphics card.
It is 24mm thick and comes with two colours to choose from – Gold or Black. Both offers large keypads and a frameless keyboard with enhanced keycap design for better tactile feedback. On the other hand, the Skullcandy speakers are housed in a mesh slit speaker grill found on the laptop, which feature DTS Sound enrichment, boosted volumes, and deeper bass line.
The L series laptops featrure a a hard disk capacity of 1TB and three USB 3.0 ports. There is also a feature called Sleep-and-Charge, which allows users to charge other devices via a USB cable while the laptop is shut down. In addition to HDMI ports to view content on a HDTV, the laptop also includes Miracast for wireless streaming.

Moving on to the Satellite P50 series. The Satellite P50t feature one of the world’s first 4K Ultra HD display panel in a laptop, and is the world’s first to be awarded the Technicolor Color Certification. It packs an Ultra HD Clear Superview IPS touchscreen display across a 15.6-inch panel with a native pixel resolution of 3840 x 2160 that gives it a pixel density of 282ppi (pixels per inch).
The premium laptops are aimed at visual creative professionals and multimedia enthusiasts who take on strenuous multi-tasking, media creation and gaming. Users can tune and manage individual colour space control of wide-gamut displays with the pre-installed ChromaTune for Toshiba software.
With a 1TB HDD, the Satellite P50 series features an Intel 4th generation i7 Quad-Core processor and the AMD Radeon R9 M265X to handle heavy gaming and editing.
Instead of the Skullcandy speakers found in the Satellite L series, the Satellite P50 series laptops are equipped with high-end stereo speakers by Harman Kardon. DTS sound enrichment are also found here in this series. There is also a feature called Sleep & Music that allows users to take advantage of the speakers without having the laptop open.
In addition, 4K output can be done via the HDMI port that is flanked by four USB 3.0 ports. The keyboard is also backlit, and all of these are encased in an aluminium clamshell casing with chrome accents.

There are no specific pricing released for any of the laptops here in the country yet, though these models have just been launched in Singapore.
[UPDATE – 424PM, 30 July]: Toshiba has just got back to us and has confirmed that both laptop series are now readily available in Malaysia. The Toshiba Satellite L series comes with a starting price of RM 2,049 while the Toshiba Satellite P series goes from RM 3,999 onwards.
