Windows Phone users are now able to join those who use Uber’s ride sharing service. The new app appeared in the Windows Phone Store last night, and is a much better effort than the initial attempt. That being said, the app itself still lacks several features that the developers are promising to include in the next update.
The previous incarnation of the WP Uber app was merely a shell that directed users to the Uber website. This new version offers an experience closer to that which is found on Android and iOS. It serves the same purpose of locating nearby rides, a list of rates for the different vehicles offered, payment through credit card, and the option to set a pickup point. However, users do not yet have the option to compare fares as the developer is only promising to add the feature in next month. Also offered next month is apparently the ability to split fares and create shareable links with maps and ETA.
It is too soon to tell if the app diverges from its brethren, although it should be able to function well enough to avoid any major annoyances. Windows Phone users can download the 6MB app from the Windows Phone Store.
