It appears that quite a number of Xiaomi Mi 3 users are facing connection problems with their Mi 3 after updating to Android 4.4.2 yesterday. Several users including myself have been disconnecting from the network every time a call has been made when connected to Maxis on 3G.

According to our forum, the problem seems to be affecting mainly Maxis users. Every time you make or pick up a call, the line will get disconnected after about a minute or so. The update also comes with a buggy Contacts app as well as GPS connectivity.
We performed several tests on our Mi 3 with Android 4.4.2 and found that calls will disconnect after about a minute. The problem seems to only appear when the device is connected to Maxis 3G – when connected to Wi-Fi and when switched to 2G-only, we were able to make calls for almost 3 minutes without any problems at all. We also tried using a different telco (DiGi) but did not run into the problem. According to our former, thanish, Android 4.4.2 for his Mi 3 on U Mobile did not have any issues either.
Other problems reported includes a Contacts app that crashes when you wish to perform a search, as well as an inability to connect to GPS. Both these problems are not dependent on the network and affects the device even when connected to other networks/Wi-Fi only. The version on our Mi 3 is Android 4.4.2, MIUI version MIUI-KXDMIBE18.0.
We’ve reached out to both Xiaomi and Maxis so do stay tuned as we wll update this post as and when we receive more information. Meanwhile, are you facing problems with your Xiaomi Mi 3 after the Android 4.4.2 update? Let us know at the comments section.
