How tough can parenting be? Very! That is why LG has recently announced a new wearable so you can easily keep track of your kids wherever they may be, and even allows you to listen in to what they’re up to – the LG KizOn.
The LG KizOn is a pretty chunky band that goes around the wrist of children, and is equipped with Wi-Fi, GPS and even calling functionality so children can make an SOS call when necessary, to a preset number. Parents can also call the device and if the child does not answer the call within a certain amount of time, the call will automatically be accepted so the parents will be able to listen to ensure their child is safe.
Other features includes up to 36 hours of battery life that will send an alert to the smartphone if battery is low, water-resistant and stain-resistant PTU material, comes in 3 colors – pink, blue and green, and since it’s a wearable made for kids, you can be sure there’ll be other designs too featuring popular animation characters.
There has been a rise of wearables made for parents to track their children but is they completely necessary and will they invade the privacy of older children? I guess some parents might find it useful, especially working parents who have to rely on others to take care of their children while they’re away for work. As for kidnappers easily ripping the wearable off, well, let’s keep our fingers crossed that they won’t be as technology savvy as the parents to know what the band is for.
The band will launch in South Korea starting today. No words have been said regarding launch to our region but looking at history, I wouldn’t get my hopes up too high.
