As you might have heard, a local politician earlier today goes under the spotlight after tweeting his reaction of Germany’s landslide victory against Brazil during this morning’s FIFA World Cup semi-final match. The tweet has managed to trigger plenty of reactions to the extent that even the German Ambassador to Malaysia has something to say about it.
Truth to be told, that now infamous tweet is just one of many tweets that is related to the epic match. In fact, Twitter stated that this morning’s Brazil vs Germany match is now the most-discussed single sports game ever on the social network.
Specifically, the stats said that 35.6 million tweets were posted on Twitter during the telecast of the match which is definitely way more than the amount that was generated by Suarez biting incident two weeks ago. The company has also revealed that almost 600,000 tweets per minute were posted when Germany scored its fifth goal.
With so much conversations going on, it is not hard to see that Twitter is really enjoying this World Cup season and despite the massive amount of traffic, the popular social network seems to be working just fine. Then again, there are still three more matches before 2014 FIFA World Cup concludes; so let’s see if either of these matches is able to match the record set by Germany’s victory over Brazil earlier today.
