The pricing plan for Hearthstone’s first single player expansion pack, Curse of Naxxramas, has been announced. The DLC will be available beginning from US$6.99 for a single wing of the floating Necropolis, and goes all the way up to US$24.99 for all five locations. Free players who are not interested in spending real world money will be able to buy the various parts of Naxxramas for 700 gold per wing.
Blizzard had originally announced that the first wing – known as the Arachnid Quarter – of Naxxramas would be free to all players, and we now have information that indicates that this will only be true for the launch period. There is no word about how long this will be exactly, although the blog post says that this will be for roughly about a month.
After the initial launch, the remaining four wings – Plague Quarter, Military Quarter, Construct Quarter, and Frostwyrm Lair – will be released on after another each week. Buying the bundle does not instantly grant access to all of the wings, and players will still have to wait until the location is opened to begin playing.
Once each of the locations has been defeated, players will unlock heroic mode; which appears to be similar to the advanced decks in practice mode. Blizzard says that this mode “will prove to be a challenge for even the most veteran Hearthstone players” .
There is still no news on when Naxxramas will be released, although it is widely expected to arrive at some time this month.
