So we’ve been seeing multiple rumors and leaks about the upcoming iPhone 6. The device, to be available in two different sizes, is said to come equipped with a Sapphire Glass on its front but just how strong is Sapphire Glass and should you be excited? YouTube user MKBHD recently posted a video showing a series of tortures he made on the front panel he received from Sonny Dickson. The result? It’s very tough indeed.
In the video, the user did the standard tests to try to scratch the display with some keys and even a knife. When those tests failed, he proceeded to tougher tests, which includes poking and bending the display as far as he could. Check out the video right below.
As mentioned, Sapphire Glass is nothing new for smartphones, Apple is already using it for its TouchID and camera lens, but it’ll definitely be interesting to see it being used on the entire front panel.
If rumors are true, the next iPhone will definitely be something exciting to look forward to. Sure, it’ll be expensive and maybe even more expensive than the iPhone 5S, at least future torture tests for the phone will be a whole lot more interesting – imagine a display that might not break even with a 6’ drop test onto the tarmac road.
Are you looking forward to the 4.7” and 5.5” iPhone 6 with Sapphire Glass front panel?
