Since they are running on Android, the Nokia X (and now Nokia X2) smartphones are seen by many as a very odd member of Microsoft. However, things are about to get even more baffling if this particular report is true.
Apparently, Microsoft will be coming out with Android-based Lumia device. Whoa.
Now, we would usually just brush it off if it just any random rumours but then again, this particular statement came from @evleaks who has an exceptional track record when it comes to leaks regarding Lumia devices. The serial leaker also pointed out that the Android-based Lumia device will also be carrying “Nokia by Microsoft” branding but didn’t elaborate further.
To us, it is indeed odd to see Microsoft coming out with an Android-device for its Lumia series which has always been exclusive to Windows Phone and has been spearheading the WP movement since day one.
Not to mention that the company has just launched the Android-based Nokia X2 few weeks ago. If the Lumia series which tend to have better hardware has its own Android product, what will left of Nokia X then?
Well, let’s see how true this particular leak will be then because this is really an intriguing decision by Microsoft if it is true.
