Perhaps one of the more affordable solutions when it comes to whole ariel photography quadcopters and with this latest update, DJI have made flying that much easier with “Ground Station”, a waypoint based system for Autonomous flight for the Vision 2 and Vision 2+. This is particularly targeted at users with virtually no experience flying quadcopters and drones allowing easy navigation without the need of an experienced operator to get the shot.
With this app update you can set up to 16 GPS based waypoints which the Phantom 2 will follow, allowing you to focus on just getting the shot. The Phantom 2 Vision/Vision+ will not follow to any co-ordinate outside its range and when it’s at 30% battery, it will return back to the point of launch so it never runs out of battery mid-flight.
This is a great feature as it makes this type of photography a little more accessible as you don’t need a dedicated person to worry about flight paths and can just be a singular person to be focused on the photography/videography aspect.
