AMD is preparing for the inevitable increase of 4k content that will be produced by introducing a professional grade graphics card capable of rendering the ultra HD graphics. Designed specifically for 4K CAD, the FirePro W8100 features 8 GB of GDDR5 memory, 4.2 TFLOPS peak single-precision floating point performance, 320 GB/s memory bandwidth, and four discrete DisplayPort 1.2 outputs.
“Engineering Analysis is becoming increasingly relevant for high-end workstation workflows, and 4K displays drive the need for more performance in media production pipelines,” said David Cummings, senior director and general manager, Professional Graphics at AMD. “By adding the AMD FirePro W8100, we’ve expanded the AMD FirePro family to enable professionals — in cooperation with our hardware and software partners — with the right workstation performance they demand for next generation 4K workflows and supercomputing applications.”
Along with the FirePro W8100, AMD has also announced the FirePro Ultra Workstation. A single machine designed for engineering and creative professionals. The workstation fits up to four AMD FirePro W9100 or W8100 GPUs, and 32GB of DDR3.
The AMD FirePro W8100 will be available starting in July although there is no word on the pricing.
