Earlier today, a rather interesting email from the folks at Microsoft Malaysia has landed into our mailbox. It speaks of a new Lumia Windows Phone that will be launched in Malaysia very soon but didn’t mentioned the actual model name. Could this model be the new Lumia 930?
Let’s backtrack a bit: as you might know, Nokia (this was before the Microsoft deal was completed, mind you) announced two smartphones at Microsoft Build Developer Conference earlier this year. One being the entry-level Lumia 630 and another is the high end Lumia 930.
Out of these two, the Lumia 630 was launched in Malaysia last month which left Lumia 930 as the only probable candidate. Then again, it seems like Lumia 930 somehow has yet to appear on SIRIM’s database which made us slightly baffled even though we tried looking through the listing belonged to Microsoft and Nokia as well as Nokia’s long time distributors, Zitron and Avaxx.
Nevertheless, we still believe that the new Lumia that Microsoft Malaysia is planning to show to us later this month is indeed the Lumia 930 since it is the only new Lumia that has yet to be launched in our market. Furthermore, the new device that Microsoft Mobile announced today was Nokia X2 which is (obviously) not part of Lumia family.
So, let’s see what Microsoft Malaysia has in store for us on 30 June. Meanwhile, take a look at our specs comparison between Lumia 930 and previously released Lumia flagship devices such as Lumia 1520, Lumia 1020, Lumia 925, and Lumia 920.
