The Humble Bundle is a popular way of getting large amounts of games for absurdly low prices. Late last year, the site also launched an online store that also donated a portion of its earnings to charity. The Humble Store also holds periodic sales that are able to rival the discounts found on Steam, albeit without the same scale.
Humble Bundle has announced that the Humble Store has now surpassed US$1 million raised for charity, despite only 10% of the sales being actually donated for a good cause. This amount is not counting the additional funds raised from the gaming bundles that are also sold at the site.
The charities that have benefited from the generosity of gamers are the American Red Cross, Child’s Play, Electronic Frontier Foundation, World Land Trust, and Charity: Water. This is on top of the 75% of the purchase price going back to the developers of the games sold, which has helped indie studios and smaller developers stay alive.
