The Diablo 3 Auction House is finally closing its doors tomorrow. While the actual Auction House has not allowed transaction since March, there are still unclaimed items and gold that have been allowed to remain in the Completed tab. These will be lost after the shut down, as the feature will be completely removed from the game.
Diablo 3’s Auction House was a sore point for many fans of the game who realised that it was usually easier to simply buy equipment instead of going adventuring to look for new gear. Even Blizzard has admitted that allowing players to simply buy new weapons hurt the economy and enjoyment of the game. The recent expansion pack, Reaper of Souls, has taken great lengths to rebalancing the game in a way that promotes replayability and co-operative multiplayer instead of the long gold grinding sessions that plagued Diablo 3 in the early days.
Blizzard is reminding players to log in and reclaim any loot that may still be sitting in the Auction House before it is permanently consumed by treasure goblins.
