The Angry Birds franchise is about to get epic on a totally different scale. After managing to successfully combine the game universe with that of Star Wars with “Angry Birds: Star Wars” – featuring a host of merchandise along the way – developers Rovio are hoping for a similar success with “Angry Birds Transformers”.
At the moment, information about the game is pretty light, beyond the fact that this game would feature a battle between the Autobirds and the Deceptihogs (heh). The game mechanics will also likely feature some sort of transformation techniques, a hallmark of the Transformers series, but more importantly the game will also be accompanied by a slew of merchandise including the Telepods: small plastic figurines with QR codes that can be scanned into the game to unlock additional abilities or content.
There’s also no release date from Rovio for now nor any indicative pricing. But given the fact that its latest game in the franchise, “Angry Birds: Epic“, was just released last week, we could probably be seeing a release later this year or even early next year; don’t forget, there’s even a girl-focused game coming later this year called “Angry Birds: Stella“.
