Samsung Malaysia has announced that its camera-specialized smartphone, the Galaxy K Zoom, will arrive in the country on June 21. True to its word, Samsung will be bringing in two of the three colourways of the device within the next two weeks, and will be priced at RM1699 alongside plenty of freebies via the Galaxy Life app.
Launched worldwide just last month, the Galaxy K Zoom once again merges a camera sensor usually seen on digital compact cameras into a body of a smartphone. There’s a new 24-240mm 20.7MP 1/2.3 BSI CMOS sensor, with 10x optical zoom, optical image stabilisation (OIS) as well as a new Xenon flash with autofocus-assist LED. The new sensor has an aperture range of f/3.1 to f/6.3 and an ISO range of 100 to 3200, with a 3fps continuous shot capability.
In the “smartphone” aspect, the Galaxy K Zoom is powered by a Samsung Exynos hexa-core processor (1.3GHz quad-core + 1.7GHz dual-core) with 2GB of RAM, while rest of the hardware is largely a “lite” version of the Galaxy S5. It has a 4.8-inch 720p Super AMOLED display, LTE connectivity, Android 4.4, 2430mAh battery and only 8GB of internal storage (expandable up to an additional 64GB).
The Samsung GALAXY K zoom in Shimmery White will be available from 21 June onwards, while the Charcoal Black variant will be in store from 26 June onwards. They are available for purchase at a recommended retail price of RM1,699, at all Samsung Experience Stores and Samsung authorised dealers. Consumers who purchased the GALAXY K zoom get to redeem RM1,500 worth of freebies via the GALAXY Life app, which can be downloaded from Google Play Store. These freebies include free 50GB Dropbox storage for 2 years, 1TB of Bitcasa storage for 3 months, 90-day complimentary TM WiFi access, and many more limited-time subscriptions.
