Scheduled to take over the mantel from the existing M5 Pro SATA Solid State Drive very soon, the upcoming M6 Pro SATA SSD is the one of the main highlight over at Plextor booth in Computex 2014. Operating at SATA’s full speed of 6Gbps, the Plextor M6 Pro apparently has been subjected to the company’s own strict enterprise-grade Zero Error standard with 400 units of M6 Pro managed to survive 1008 hours of stress test as compared to 500 hours by M5 Pro.
Built with Toshiba NAND flash memory and Marvell controller as well as the support for DEVSLP ultra low power mode in order to reduce power consumption, the M6 Pro marks the debut of the company’s new PlexiTurbo SSD caching software. What the software does is that it uses part of RAM as cache but as compared to similar technology from its competitors, the PlexiTurbo does it dynamically rather than hogging the space right from the time that system is turned on.
Additionally, PlexiTurbo also comes with data protection feature that is able to avoid files from being corrupted when there is power interruption. PlexiTurbo software is currently exclusive to M6 Pro but Plextor does have the plan to made it available for other products sometime in the near future.
At the moment, the pricing and release date for Plextor M6 Pro SATA SSD in Malaysia are yet to be confirmed but Plextor’s staff at Computex did mentioned that it will not be far off from the existing M5 Pro SSD’s price. It will be made available with storage options of 128GB up till 512GB.
