After announcing the 14nm Broadwell (Core M) processor and waxing lyrical about how it was optimized for a fanless device design because of low heat production, we could only imagine what the devices would be like. At Computex, Intel have a “llama mountain” reference design that measures in at an incredible 7.2mm, 0.3mm thinner than the iPad Air. The device is also lighter than the Surface Pro 3, weighing in at 1.47 pounds vs 1.76 pounds. The prototype also managed to fit in a 32Wh battery that gets about 8h of regular use on a full charge but of course as soon as different manufacturers get their hands on it, it will most definitely change.
Considering this is a hybrid tablet, that is certainly an incredible piece of technology, being able to make a device so thin. This also paves the way for potentially thinner devices like the Macbook Air.
