Here at Lowyat.TV and Lowyat.NET, we are proud to present our documentary series called The Movement.
These days, more and more people are pursuing their dreams and shaking up their respective industries; The Movement sets out to document this “movement” and tell the stories behind these inspiring individuals. Often times we take for granted what we see on the surface so we go behind the scenes and find out what makes these brands, groups or individuals tick.
This episode we’re talking to the boys behind everyone’s favourite local band, Kyoto Protocol.
Like a lot of other bands, Kyoto Protocol was started by a group of friends who enjoyed playing music together, but what captured the attention of KL’s audiences was the quirky energy and humour of both their songs and on-stage personalities. They are also part of a new wave of musicians that are saying goodbye to the recording industry, and are doing things their way by self publishing and managing their band independently. Five years down the line, with two albums released and one on the way, their star is on the rise, garnering them increased regional attention, and new opportunities, like opening for international acts MGMT and The Killers.
With their latest album about to be released, we’re raring to see what else these guys will get up to this year!
If you have someone who you think is creating a movement of their own and would like to see them on the show, drop us a comment here or on YouTube and who knows, they may just be next!
