Mojang’s private server service for Minecraft is finally available world wide for both PC and Mac. The announcement came late yesterday in a blog post and there appears to be a discount available on the US$13 subscription fee.
Minecraft Realms allows groups of 20 players on each server, although only 10 players will be allowed to be active at the same time. The trade off for this is that Realms provides a simpler interface for running a server, especially for the less technologically inclined. There is no setting up new IP addresses or LAN networks, and allows players to simply log into the server once invited.
The service made its debut in Mojang’s native Sweden late last year and has been slowly rolling out to the world over the last few months.
