At a very hot and humid Sunday afternoon, planes took to the sky in day 2 of the Red Bull Air Race World Championship where the best 8 pilots competed head to head for bragging rights and glory to be crowned king of the Putrajaya sky. Britain’s Nigel Lamb bagged his first career victory beating out favourites Hannes Arch and Matt Hall with a blazing quick time of 1:15.023. Lamp ascends the championship ladder to third place after his first place finish.
“I never thought I’d feel this emotion,” said Lamb, fighting off tears after getting six second-place finishes before in 43 previous races in his seven-year career. “It’s a great feeling. After seven years, and all the ups and downs, this is the payoff.”
