The Challenger Cup of Red Bull Air Race in Putrajaya is finally in place today which also mark the debut of the sole Malaysian competitor, Datuk Halim Othman in the event. Unfortunately, the ex-RMAF pilot was not able to grab the top spot in the race today as he ended the race today at sixth place despite managed to clocked in faster lap time.
During his first attempt, Halim received two penalties for flying too high and incorrect level with official time of 1 minute 29.71 seconds. His second run is much better at 1 minute 28.913 seconds but is almost 3 seconds behind the eventual winner and puts him in the 6th place.
Hence, Halim failed to obtain any points at Putrajaya leg of the event but nevertheless, he still have the opportunity to prove his worth in the next two round at England and US soon.The eventual winner of the Red Bull Air Race Challenger Cup in Putrajaya is the current competition leader, Francois Le Vot of France followed by Petr Kopfstein of Czech Republic in second place and Daniel Ryfa of Sweden in third.
