Without much fanfare outside of Japan, Sony have announced the successor to the Xperia ZL, uncreatively named the ZL2. The ZL2 is the non water resistant version of the current flagship with a slimmer profile and bezel. The ZL2 is a 5Inch device with a 1080p display that is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 MSM8974AB 2.3GHz quad-core processor and 3GB of RAM.
There is the same 20.7MP camera from the Z2, capable of recording 4K video and stills of up to 5,248 x 3,936 pixels. Powering the device is a large 3,000mAh battery which is not removable. Unfortunately there has been no word whether the ZL2 is going to be available outside of Japan nor has there been a definitive price but we can only assume that it will follow the original ZL and debut worldwide sometime soon.
