Electronic Arts will be showing more of the planned Star Wars: Battlefront at E3 later this year. EA CEO Andrew Wilson said said it expects to reveal more about the new Battlefront “and other new projects in development” at the annual game expo. There are as many as six Star Wars titles currently in production since the property moved to Disney.Star Wars: Battlefront was teased last year with a video of the battle of Hoth, complete with AT-AT Walkers assaulting the rebel base. The game will be based on DICE’s Frostbite engine; the same that currently powers Battlefield 4. With any luck the issue that plague Battlefield 4 will not be carried over to Star Wars.
Despite the name, this will not be the first Star Wars game to carry the Battlefront name and has a large legacy to live up to. The previous Star Wars: Battlefront II was a multiplayer hit, and won over many fans by allowing them to participate in some of the most iconic battles in the universe. Unfortunately for fans of the series, the Gamespy servers that run the current Battlefront II will be shut off at the end of the month; and the next Battlefront will only be released in 2015.
