Twitter has grown leaps and bounds since its inception and with the growth of a social media platform and followers means a lot more noise on your timeline. Sure it’s easy to just scroll and do some “Selective reading” but in the grand scheme of thing an unfollow would be best. There are some instances where you don’t want to unfollow the person and hence you’ll be stuck in one of the greatest social media first world problems we face now.
One of the most popular features on 3rd party Twitter apps was the ability to “mute” users, letting you skip all their updates while still giving the illusion of still following them. Twitter have finally got on this feature and are currently testing it for their official client. Users will remain muted until you manually unmute them which acts as a sort of “stealth follow”. Twitter has had the block feature before but they have since quietly renamed it to mute.
