The news that gamers expected is finally out. Disney is finally allowing a crossover between it’s cartoon universe and Marvel properties. Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Superheroes will bring 20 new characters and 80 power discs to the game. As expected, the Avengers from Marvel’s cinematic universe are taking top billing; but Samuel L. Jackson has teased that non-Avengers will also be making an appearance.
Comic book fans will be glad to hear that Avengers writer Brian Michael Bendis will be responsible for the writing of Disney Infinite 2.0; as Disney Interactive aims to capture the look and feel of the Marvel universe. Bendis and Marvel Entertainment chief creative officer Joe Quesada unveiled the first six figures for Disney Infinity 2.0: Hawkeye, Hulk, Black Widow, Captain America, Iron Man and Thor.
Owners of the current set of Disney Infinity will be glad to hear that their collections will still be playable in Disney Infinity 2.0. All toy sets, power discs, and toy box levels will be supported. Although those who are moving from the Xbox 360 to Xbox One will have to buy a new starter kit.
Disney Infinity 2.0 Edition and Marvel Super Heroes will launch with a new starter pack, which includes an Avengers-themed play set, two power discs and three characters: Thor, Black Widow and Iron Man. The game will be available for iOS, PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Wii U, Xbox One and Xbox 360.
