As you might know, today is a very big day for both Huawei and Xiaomi in Malaysia. For Huawei who has been lurking around the consumer space in Malaysia for quite some time, it is the launch of the company’s ultra-affordable quad-core smartphone – the Huawei Honor 3C – in our market.
At the other side of the table, you have Xiaomi who is finally announcing its official arrival in Malaysia. Since Honor 3C will be positioned in the same ball park as Xiaomi’s line of ultra-affordable, premium-specs devices, one might expect that both companies will go head-to-head against each other and looks like Huawei has fired the first troll shots at Xiaomi.
What Huawei Malaysia did was it has posted a “thank you” note on Xiaomi Malaysia’s Facebook page, not long after the launch of Huawei Honor 3C earlier today. Not sure if Xiaomi missed the pot shot by Huawei or the company is just ignoring the troll post, but there is no official response to Huawei’s troll post at the time this article was written.
Nevertheless, we are eager to see if Xiaomi is able to match the Honor 3C’s pricing that Huawei has put on the table because in the end, consumers are the real winners here.
