World War II shooter, Red Orchestra 2, is currently being given away on Steam. All users have to do is login to their accounts and download the game. The developer is celebrating the release of the Rising Storm Game of the Year multiplayer expansion, but that shouldn’t stop fans of WWII games from picking the base game up.
Red Orchestra 2 takes place in the battle of Stalingrad; one of the bloodiest engagements of the second World War. The game includes the ability to shoot blindly from behind cover, a tactic useful for providing suppressing fire while your team mates advance on the enemy.
As a game, Red Orchestra 2 is similar to the Battlefield franchise; although the guns handle in a more realistic manner and require practice to learn. Like all good shooters, there is an expansive set of options for multiplayer that also include vehicular combat and multiple game modes. For those who would rather not deal with the realistic damage and bleeding mechanics of the game, there is also an “action” mode that reduces gun damage and recoil.
