It’s 23 April 2014 and if you’ve been waiting to see what Xiaomi has got to offer in its product launch, here it is. The Chinese company has just taken the curtains off three brand new products namely the Mi Router, Mi Router Mini and an enhanced Mi Box that is 3 times more powerful than before and supports 4K.
First up, at the event that just ended about an hour ago, Xiaomi introduced the Mi Router, a dual-band, 802.11ac router from the company that comes with 1TB of hard disk on board. Retailing at RMB699 (approximately RM366), much cheaper than other mainstream routers, according to Xiaomi’s price comparison, that is.
If you want a simpler router for a much more affordable price, Xiaomi also introduced a Mi Router mini, a very familiar looking device that packs powerful features into a small body.
The Mi Router mini retails at a mere RMB129, that’s less than RM70, and will come in a variety of attractive colors. Equipped with 1 USB 2.0 port, 2 LAN ports and 1 WAN, the Mi Router mini could possibly be the most affordable router around and is without a doubt much cheaper than its competitors.
Finally last but definitely not least, Xiaomi also announced an upgrade to its existing Mi Box, the Mi Box Plus, that comes with quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and supports 4K resolution.
The original Mi Box only supports 1080p and is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor with only 1GB of RAM on board. Other specs include 802.11ac Wi-Fi, USB 2.0 port, a microSD slot, OGG, and an HDMI slot. The Mi Box will retail at RMB399, that’s only about RM200.
