The name Amazon may not be the first thing on your mind when you talk about a smartphone but if all things goes to plan with their first smartphone, it may just be a talking point for a while to come. While the above image resembles the lovechild of a Lumia device and a BlackBerry Z device, it’s worth noting that it’s merely a case to house internals and is not the actual finished design.
While the design is not know, what we do know is that the device is definitely not one to follow current trends. First off, it will be a 4.7Inch display pushing out 720p resolution instead of going full on 2K like most of the manufacturers are running to these days. On top of that there is going to be an unnamed Qualcomm processor powering the device as well as 2GB of RAM.
Now, the cool part: The new Amazon phone will not have 2 cameras (or even 3 in the case of the One M8), it will have SIX. That’s right, you heard correct, Six. The phone will have a standard rear and front camera but where its unique is that the rest of the cameras will reside on the front and will power the devices unique 3D interface. The cameras allow the device to track the position of your head and where you’re looking and enabling glasses free 3D.
Considering that this didn’t work with the HTC EVO 3D or LG Optimus 3D, i’m surprised that Amazon are taking a relic from the past to their new device. One thing is for sure, this may will be one of the more talked about phones when it gets announced sometime this year.
