From the day Google Glass was announced at I/O 2012 with perhaps one of the most memorable keynotes to date the wearable device has always been on the geek radar. The problem is you couldn’t get them outside of the If I Had Glass developer program. Fast forward to today and still only a very limited number of individuals own a pair of Google Glass, until April 15th that is.
In a Google+ post today, Google have confirmed that the 15th of April will be the day just about ANYONE in the US will be able to purchase Google glass for a whopping US$1,500. The Glass unit will come with a free sunglasses shade and prescription lens frame . At the moment there are about 10,000 Glass units in the world; After the 15th, we’ll see how that number swells.
Unfortunately there are no announcements are planned for the rest of the world. Perhaps this is a way to get rid of the Explorer Edition stock before the eventual consumer launch. All we know is that when it DOES come here, I definitely want one.
