Wargaming.net is planning several additional game modes for World of Tanks, including allowing players to re-enact historical battles. The most intriguing of these new modes happens to be the ability for clans to build bases which produce additional economic bonuses and can be attacked by other clans. Wargaming also saw fit to include the ability to construct static defenses (like minefields and pillboxes) to assist in the defence of these bases.
Base construction is a separate feature from the Clan Wars game mode, and takes place outside the global map. Only clans of a certain size will be given the option to play in this mode; mostly for game balance reasons. New features like the ability to call airstrikes will be added to this game mode to provide more options with which to break base defences.
Historical battles are possibly the most difficult kind of game mode to balance. Many battles involved Russian T-34 tanks against heavier and better armoured German Tigers and Panthers. Because of this developers chose to tweak tank stats in historical battles, creating uneven teams (due to Russian numerical superiority during those times) and making heavy tanks easier to kill.
There is no word when these game modes will be rolled out, although they appear to still be in the development stages. Check out the Design Diary below.
