The Samsung Gear Fit isn’t even released anywhere in the world yet, but many have lamented that Samsung’s highly desirable smartband has one critical flaw: the landscape orientation of the screen, which makes it rather awkward to use at times. Fortunately, Samsung has quietly fixed that issue.
Samsung has released a patch for the Gear Fit which allows the option of switching to a vertical display for the smartband, making it infinitely more glanceable when it is on your wrist. The new orientation update was spotted on Gear Fits on display in an official Samsung store in South Korea, before appearing in Samsung stores in other parts of the world.
It is likely that Samsung will release the update for all Gear Fit devices ahead of its global availability, where it will be on sale in over 150 markets worldwide tomorrow, alongside the company’s flagship Galaxy S5 smartphone. In Malaysia, the Samsung Gear Fit will retail for RM599.
