New information from Nintendo has revealed that Super Smash Bros. 3DS will launch this summer; there is also a WiiU version of the game slated to make an appearance later in the year. Smash Bros. boss Masahiro Sakurai provided the information in a Nintendo Direct video where he also spoke about other details of the game.
The 3DS version of the game runs in 60fps even with stereoscopic 3D enabled; although the tradeoff is that NPCs will run at a slower 30fps. Nintendo claims that this will not affect gameplay, although it begs the question of whether players will notice the difference.
New characters will also be introduced to the game, with Charizard, Sheik, and Zero Suit Samus Aran are now fully playable characters. While Yoshi will be making a return to the game.
Online multiplayer options have been expanded with the new Super Smash Bros. with either playing “For Fun” or “For Glory”. For Fun mode provides the full array of items and maps for players to enjoy, but only records wins from the game. For Glory doesn’t allow items, but provides a more competitive arena and possible 1v1 matches.
