Not everyone is a fan of Facebook and Markus Persson, the creator of Minecraft, isn’t afraid to admit it. Shortly after Facebook announced that they have acquired Oculus for USD$2 billion, Markus Persson announced that he has cancelled the deal to make Minecraft available on the Oculus Rift. His reason? Facebook creeps him out.
Shortly after Facebook’s announcement, Persson posted onto his Twitter account saying “We were in talks about maybe bringing a version of Minecraft to Oculus. I just cancelled that deal. Facebook creeps me out”. Persson then explained in a blog post what he meant by creepy and how Facebook is constantly changing platform is a challenge for game developers.
“I definitely want to be a part of VR, but I will not work with Facebook. Their motives are too unclear and shifting, and they haven’t historically been a stable platform. There’s nothing about their history that makes me trust them, and that makes them seem creepy to me.” – wrote Markus Persson in a blog post.
