Now that the dust has settled on the global launch of the new HTC One (M8), here are some additional nuggets of information regarding the local availability of HTC’s latest flagship Android smartphone.
At the sneak preview event of the new HTC One for Malaysian media last week, I asked HTC’s representatives present about its plans for its upcoming launch in Malaysia. Specifically, many of us present wanted to know exactly when will we see this sexy all-metal smartphone make its way on our shores, especially after the fact that the US and UK received their HTC One stocks almost immediately after the launch event last night.
Unfortunately, even the Malaysian HTC reps did not know when it will be officially available here, but they did provide a rough timeline: HTC Malaysia is pushing hard for a local launch of the HTC One (M8) by the end of April. If that timelime proves to be true, it looks like HTC is in for a tough, tough time once again in Malaysia. Samsung is not only launching their flagship Galaxy S5 tomorrow (tomorrow!), the devices will also be available nationwide on April 11. By the time HTC launches the One in Malaysia, will there even be enough interested buyers?
Of course, we’re getting ahead of ourselves here. While we certainly hope HTC Malaysia will try to push hard for an earlier launch, we can confirm that the new One will be arriving to all four major telcos in Malaysia when it is eventually available here. The four telcos are among 230 telecommunications operators worldwide which will offer the HTC One (M8) in their various data plans.
Perhaps it is time you did some research on which telco offers the best postpaid plan in Malaysia before that?
