Update: It appears that HTC has been busy adding new apps to the Play Store in preparation for its All New HTC One launch, on top of the BlinkFeed and Service Pack apps, HTC Corporation now has new apps on the Play Store, namely HTC Gallery (HTC Zoe) and HTC Sense TV.
Only a couple of hours more before HTC officially unveil the All New HTC One and it looks like the company has got more goodies up its sleeves. Apart from a new phone, HTC may also introduce new apps for other devices because the company has just released two apps into the Play Store – HTC BlinkFeed and HTC Service Pack.
Both apps are not compatible with any devices (for now), including the 2013 HTC One but with both apps available in the Play Store, it could mean that the Taiwanese company will be releasing these apps for other Android devices, and will be made available at the announcement of the 2014 HTC One at 11pm tonight (local time).
Nothing more can be found with regards to the new apps on Play Store. Accoding to the screenshots and description, HTC BlinkFeed will do what it’s been doing for the past year – show you your social feeds, calander events, news, music and content in one place. There will also be an Offline Reading feature that lets you update feeds with Wi-Fi to read later.
As for the Service Pack, it is a support service update that combines previously released updates and helps make your HTC experience more reliable. It is available for free and you will have to make sure you have the latest service pack installed to keep your HTC experience up do date.
Update: So what is HTC trying to do here? Are they taking the Google approach by providing only the basics into a device and you can download whatever you want from the Play Store? Or will HTC open up its mobile software to other devices, allowing your non-HTC device to perform like a HTC device? At the time of writing, all these apps, including a HTC Guide app, are not supported on any devices including the existing 2013 HTC One (according to Android Police’s post), or my own HTC One X.
The announcement later tonight might be a boring one since practically everything has been leaked already, but now I’m just very curious to see what they’re up to with these apps on the Play Store.
