Twitch, the video streaming platform focused on video games, has announced the first title to use its mobile video game streaming technology. Gameloft’s Asphalt 8: Airborne for iOS will soon allow players to share their gameplay videos with the millions of individuals who watch this sort of thing.
The mobile integration will allow players to not only stream the game, but also voice and video of the player using the device’s microphone and front-facing camera.
Currently optimised for the iPhone 5S, iPad Air, and iPad Mini with Retina Display, the Twitch functionality will arrive for Asphalt 8 as part of the game’s third update. One has to question the move to allow streaming of mobile games, but the online streaming service has already resulted in tens of thousands of people playing Pokemon at the same time; so there is no telling how popular this kind of thing will become.
