Details about the upcoming Tales From The Borderlands: A Telltale Game Series have been revealed at SXSW. The episodic adventure series set on Pandora – the same location as the first two Borderlands games – will involve two protagonists who don’t entirely live up to the title of ‘hero’.
The two featured characters are Fiona, a con artist, and Rhys, a cybernetically enhanced Hyperion employee. Players will control both characters as they recall the events of the game; however, neither is very honest and there will be discrepancies between the descriptions.
Anyone expecting to run through the game with guns blazing will may end up disappointed. This particular game is designed following Telltale’s style of episodic storytelling found in titles like The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us. There will still be action sequences, but the game will also include more traditional adventure game mechanics.
Gearbox writer Anthony Burch summarised the concept as, “Borderlands can be more than just shooting people in the face repeatedly. That it could be shooting people in the face repeatedly and then talking to them is a cool possibility for us.”
