Leica has always been a name associated with unparalleled luxury and sophistication. The red dot as been desirable by just about all photographers at one point or another. Previous collaborations have dropped jaws with the price and added just that much richkidsofinstagram cred to your camera collection. Hermès made the M9-P a completely new work of art and even Jony Ive made the M for RED an Apple fanboys ultimate shooter. The latest collaboration however, is pretty darn strange.
If Leica just decided to collaborate with Playboy, it still be a semi decent image but now, with the Hello Kitty x Playboy x Leica collaboration, all bets are off. With the world famous cat donning the even more famous bunny ears, this could only be an image thought about in the deepest Rule 34 parts of the internet or in Hugh Hefner’s most vivid lucid dream.
Emblazoned on the Leica C, it looks like just something your kid would stick on your gadgets as opposed to a proper collaboration, however retailing at EUR920, which is over twice as much as the camera it “draws inspiration from”, I can’t see this flying off the shelves. Oh and there are only 10 in the world.
