Lenovo Malaysia has begun sending out media invites for the local launch of its first-ever LTE smartphone, the Vibe Z. Also known as the K910, the Vibe Z will be released in Malaysia next week, as well as announcing an exclusive telco partnership with Celcom.
As mentioned above, the Vibe Z is Lenovo’s first LTE-enabled smartphone, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core chipset; no power-efficient MediaTek processors here. As Lenovo’s new flagship smartphone, the Vibe Z ticks all the right boxes in terms of hardware, too: in addition to LTE connectivity and Snapdragon 800 processor, there’s also 2GB of RAM, a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS display, 16GB of non-expandable onboard storage, and a 13MP f1.8 rear camera with 5MP front-facing sensor.
In addition, the Vibe Z sports what Lenovo calls a “laser etched fabric feel” back cover that covers up the fact that it is made from plastic rather well. The Android 4.3-running Vibe Z will also measure a mere 7.9mm thick and weigh in at 147g. It was announced in China just after IFA 2013, before it was announced that it will be available in international markets a few months later.
The launch event will also highlight Celcom’s exclusive partnership with Lenovo for the Vibe Z. Judging by the $549 (around RM1750) international price tag, it will be interesting to see how much the bundle price would be for Celcom’s postpaid plans.
Stay tuned for more at the launch event next week!
