After making its debut at CES 2014 and teasing the “pre registration” from Sony Malaysia, at an event in Jakarta, Sony have finally announced the arrival of the Z1 Compact. The original Z1 was one of the Lowyat.NET team’s favourite phones of 2013 and with the Z1 Compact coming in and trimming the size down while keeping it feature packed, the Z1 Compact may be one of our favourites from 2014.
The Xperia Z1 Compact retains most of what the Z1 has wowed us with, like the 20.7MP camera featuring a 1/2.3″ CMOS EXMOR RS sensor (including the awesome AR effects) and the Snapdragon 800 2.2GHz quad core CPU. What has changed is that everything has been shrunk down into a 4.3Inch Triluminos HD Display at 720 x 1280 resolution (342PPI). The Xperia Z1 Compact comes with a 2,300mAh battery, down from the 3,000mAh of the Z1 but still comes with the same IP55 & IP58 water and dustproof body and this time comes in 4 different colours.
The Sony Xperia Z1 Compact will be available in Malaysia from April 2014. Stay tuned for a hands on straight from Jakarta!
