During the recent Mobile World Congress 2014, we have showed you that users are able to use standard Android interface on Nokia X+ via third party launcher such as the popular Nova Launcher. That being said, such launcher still not able to provide native access to Google’s services such as Google Play and Google Now.
Turns out that it is indeed possible to access those services on Nokia X according to the ever resourceful people at XDA Developers.
However, one need to root the device in order to achieve that. The process is not hard though according to this step-by-step guide by Kashamalaga of XDA Developers. It also turns out that the people at Nokia seem to like what they saw above although it is highly possible that rooting the device might void its warranty.
Then again, given the price of the device (we expect it to be around RM 400), some adventurous users out there most probably wouldn’t mind voiding the warranty in order to make the Nokia X as their playground. After all, Nokia X family is able to run majority of Android apps out there anyway.
