BlackBerry appears to be expanding on the BBM Money pilot in Indonesia. Re/code reports that BlackBerry Enterprise Unit President John Sims who said that the money movement is an important thing, and that BB is meeting with partners to explore the market.
BBM Money allows users attach money accounts to their BBM identity, and use it to execute financial transactions. At the moment, it is only available in Indonesia through a partnership with PermataBank and Monitise. Sims says that he sees potential in developing markets where BBM is popular.
BBM now has some 85 million active users since it moved cross platform and is available for both Android and iOS, with a supposed Windows Phone app also arriving soon.
Where the expansion of this service will take place is still unknown, although if they are keeping to their strongest markets it would mean experimentation with either the rest of Southeast Asia or Latin America.
