To be frank, I personally can’t recall the last time Astro actually updated the interface of its decoders. Hence, it is indeed good to see that the satellite TV provider is finally going to update it very soon with a fresh and much more modern look. We then asked Astro: what’s next?
The answer is rather interesting, to say the least.
After all, Astro’s Chief Innovation Officer, Brian Lenz, did mention at a media conference earlier today that the new interface was also conceived to help facilitate future functionalities into Astro decoders. So, here is what might be the next major feature for Astro decoders: the ability to control them through smartphones and tablets.
According to Brian, the company is currently looking into this feature as it would be able to provide TV companion experience to Astro customers. As interesting as it might sounds, Brian didn’t reveal further information regarding the feature or any release timeline.
