The next Transformers game has been announced at the American International Toy Fair over the weekend. Titled “Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark” it will be available for Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and, interestingly enough, Wii U.
Published by Activision, the game appears to be a crossover event between Michael Bay’s Transformer movies and the War/Fall of Cybertron series of games. Which seems to mean to different Optimus Primes, both voiced by the same person. It appears that fan favourites like Bumblebee (also both versions), Starscream, and Shockwave will also be making appearances in the game.
However, High Moon Studios (developer of the Cybertron games) is not involved this time. Instead, Edge of Reality has taken the lead in project; to the disappointment of many fans. Edge of Reality was responsible for the console port of The Sims 3 and Dragon Age: Origins, and are currently the team behind the fast paced shooter Loadout. The 3DS version will apparently be a strategy RPG developed by Ducktales: Remastered developer WayForward.
