HTC haven’t exactly been having the best time in the past few quarters with less than optimal performance for their One Max and profits seemingly distant, the year of the Horse is either the year they turn it all around or spiral out of control. In a leaked picture coming from Russia, we get our first (albeit blurry) glimpse at what could very well be the next flagship smartphone from HTC. Codenamed the M8, the next HTC One was a little camera shy and only showed us a little bit of what we’ve seen before, and then some.
From the image you can see, aside from a dual flash like the iPhone 5S, there is a second camera fixture on the top of the main one. Questions have been asked with regard to the viability of such a build, while there has been a precedent dual-sensor camera module from Toshiba which allows you to obtain Lytro-like refocusing, Nokia did the same thing with the incredible Refocus.
Is this going to be another One Max rear fingerprint scanner? Will it have any other functionality other than the refocus? Have they finally improved the “Ultrapixel”? Or is that image a leaked photoshop project? As the time comes closer to the purported March release, the picture will be a little clearer.
What do you think? Gimmick or Groundbreaking?
