Bloomberg is reporting that Samsung’s next flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S5, will arrive by April. The news portal also managed to discover that the Korean manufacturer is looking into adopting an iris scanner to compete with the finger print scanner found in Apple’s iPhone 5S.
Speaking to Lee Young Hee, Samsung’s executive vice president of mobile, reveal the information; as well as, revealing that the Galaxy S5 will be paired with a future iteration of the Galaxy Gear smartwatch. Consumers concerned that this will turn into another Samsung phone looks virtually identical to every other Samsung phone can rest assured that the company is “going back to basics” and try to physically differentiate the new design. Of course, this goes along with Lee mentioning the changes will be focused on display and cover.
However, it is refreshing to hear a Samsung official admit that their designs are too identical and something needs to be done about it.
The most ridiculous piece of news that came out of the interview with Lee is that the next Galaxy Note may include a three sided display. Apparently this is to allow users to see what is going from any angle. It might be that this simply means the display will wrap around the sides of the phablet, but it is still much too early to speculate on the matter. If anything, MWC 2014 will be a very interesting show to watch.
