Thermal cameras often run into ridiculous prices, which limits the number of people are able to walk around pretending that they are the Predator stalking Arnold Schwarzenegger through the jungle. FLIR One is changing that by turning your iPhone into a thermal sensor.
It does this by embedding a tiny thermal camera into an iPhone 5 (or 5S) case. Users simply have to put the case on and download the app. The company hopes to sell it to DIYers to detect leaks in their homes, or as a low cost safety feature for escaping burning buildings.
At US$350 a case it is not exactly cheap. Although it is still much cheaper than the US$1000 for a full sized thermal camera.
