It is no secret that out smartphones are breeding grounds for a host of different micro-organisms. Naturally, it’s because we never wash them. Corning, makers of Gorilla Glass, are solving that problem by infusing silver ions into the scratch resistant glass. Silver is a common anti-bacterial agent, although it is rather expensive to use in everyday life.
Corning is attempting to overcome this cost issue by using as little silver as possible; hence, the silver ion infusion. There is no word on how effective the treatment is, but it will be a relief for hypochondriacs everywhere to know their phones are no longer spreading as many germs around. Although there is no word on an anti-bacterial phone casing to go along with this new glass.
